The Marriage
I had met a gentleman Tauqir Ahmed Sheikh, who was the son of Sheikh Nazir Ahmed from Lahore Garden Town. I accepted his proposal.
I was approached by a widower who proposed while I was consulting in Saudi Arabia and preparing to launch my own business.

He offered me a partnership in his business with equity, a salary, a house, travel to far away lands etc. if I became a housewife to care for him and work with him
After getting validations from his mother, his 70 year old sister and his 36 year old daughter, I resigned from my work and joined him in the USA based on his promises.
My family and I trusted this man who claimed he was a 10 times Haji and is the son of Sheikh Nazir Ahmed a Big Business man of his time in Lahore . Tauqir Ahmed Sheikh , himself, An MBA Holder From USA and a Owner of a Oil and Gas Company in Libya.
However , when I got to the USA, he did not fulfil his promises but made reasonable excuses for a delay to my family and agreed upon a 100K Mehr while he worked on fulfilling his promises and we went forward with the Marriage

The Marriage Trap
I resigned from my job and joined him in the U.S.—based on trust and his repeated promises. What followed was not a marriage. It was a trap built on fraud.
Fraud on The Nikah
ON the date of the marriage. On the Nikaah Nama he did not document his Social Security or Drivers License number.
He wrote the 100K Mehr but then he did not document a date of payment.
TEXAS LAW THAT ISGH VIOLATES
Sec. 2.206. RETURN OF LICENSE; PENALTY. (a) The person who conducts a marriage ceremony shall record on the license the date on which and the county in which the ceremony is performed and the person's name, subscribe the license, and return the license to the county clerk who issued it not later than the 30th day after the date the ceremony is conducted.
(b) A person who fails to comply with this section commits an offense. An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $200 and not more than $500.- Then the Imam gave the documents to him and his friends Azhar Chaudhary who was guiding him on the steps of the fraud.
We did not understand at the time that he had never meant this to be a Valid Marriage but that He had taken all the steps to make sure he could exit when he got what he wanted. - Officiant's Responsibility: The person who performed the ceremony has a legal obligation to return the completed license within 30 days.
- Consequences for Officiant: IfIf the officiant fails to return the license, they can face a misdemeanor charge and a fine of up to $500.
Religious Institutions Turned Away
I’ve reached out to ISGH, the religious institution that performed the Nikah, requesting they issue a Talaq declaration so I can pursue my Islamic and legal rights to the promised Mehr.
They refused.
They ignored multiple requests to meet with leadership.
They enabled a marriage that was never filed—then failed to hold their officiant accountable.
I believe this silence protects donors, not survivors. This is why I’ve had no choice but to open a GoFundMe campaign—for legal costs, court filings, and to protect my future.
The Marriage
I have asked ISGH several times to declare a Talaq so my Mehr becomes due as my husband has verbally divorced me multiple times and has also filed for a divorce in Fort Bend County. I could have then requested my Mehr in the Temporary Order Selletement Agreement .
But ISGH has refused to do so.
- It seems to me that they enable the men of the community to do unregistered marriages and exploit women as these men pay the donations that pay their Salaries.
- It is incomprehensible that the Imam did not validate the Mehr Amount and Date to make sure it was valid. I our case th Imam omitted reciting the date section in its entireity in the Nikaah ceremoney.
- It is incomprehensible that the Imam did not fill out the key information himself such as the identification Card information
- It is incomprehensible that the Imam can circumvents the process by instead of taking the nikaah and License to make sure it goes through the proper channels and gets Registered, they hand it to the Groom.

I have called repeatedly and asked for an appointment to meet the Director to address this issue. I am always told he is out of the Office and that they will call me back after confirmation of a date from him.
